The Healing Wisdom of Ayurveda: A Journey from Illness to Wellness

Ayurveda,  translated as “science of life” has been continuously practiced for thousands of years.

Improving the lives of many, this timeless knowledge provides insight into the human experience and offers

common sense tools to reach our optimum wellness.  According to Ayurveda, the foundation of this physical

experience is the five elements: space, air, fire, water & earth. Understanding the unique qualities of each of these

elements gives us much needed information that can profoundly benefit our quality of life.

I was fortunate to be introduced to Ayurveda back in 1996 by our local, chief of staff surgeon, Dr. Vijay Jain.

Dr. Jain had previously been diagnosed with polymyalgia which is an auto immune disorder.

Being a western trained surgeon, he accepted the diagnosis, the prognosis and the medications that were prescribed.

He ended up on disability and was told that he would never practice surgery again.

Dr. Jain was only in his 40’s at the time. After several years of this approach to his disorder,

he decided to try something else. Being a fellow medical student with Deepak Chopra, he reached out

to him for alternative advice. This lead Dr. Jain to try Ayurveda and it’s detoxification program “Panchakarma”.

Within weeks Dr. Jain returned to wellness and with a renewed passion for life, decided to become an

Ayurvedic physician so he too could help others.

I met Dr. Jain during his last year of training. That’s where my Ayurvedic study began.

First with him and then with his Ayurvedic Physician, Dr. Sunil Joshi.

I instantly connected with the teachings & philosophies, as if I grew up with this science.

I slowly began implementing some of the daily recommendations and the more I learned, the more I adopted.

In 2015, I was able to elevate my Ayurvedic knowledge by becoming an Ayurvedic Practitioner.

This increased understanding of the mind/body & digestion gave me the necessary tools to reverse my

migraines, digestive disorders & fibromyalgia symptoms.

I am passionate about teaching this wisdom & performing the ayurvedic treatments for others who seek

to improve their life experience.
